Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), which along with Sony Pictures is producting actor Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming movie Amaran, has officially confirmed that the new Amaran release date is October 31, 2024 (Thursday). Amaran was previously scheduled to release in September 2024, but the Rajkumar Periyasamy directorial has now been pushed for a Diwali release in October. 

A biographical war action film that is based on the late Indian Army Officer Mukund "Maddy" Varadarajan, Amaran is adapted from the book India's Most Fearless - True Stories of Modern Military Heroes book, written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Chapter 7 of the book titled I Got Hit. I Can't Believe It is about the Shopian encounter which took Mukund V's life, and is recounted by Col. Amit Singh Dabbas, who was Mukund V's CO at that time. 

Amaran is titled after the 1992 Karthik- K. Rajeshwar film, and also stars Sai Pallavi as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, the surviving wife of Mukund V, and Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh who lost his life alongside Mukund in the Shopian encounter. Amaran has GV Prakash for music, CH Sai for cinematography, Anbariv for stunts, R. Kalaivanan for edits.
